Award Ceremonies

What are award ceremonies and what are they for?

Award ceremonies are formal events in which prizes are awarded to those who have demonstrated a high achievement in a particular field, for example: the film industry. Award ceremonies aim to give people, and their work, across different media fields more recognition and respect for what they have accomplished and therefore they are promoting them. I am going to be discussing three different award ceremonies which are: The Oscars, The Golden Globe Awards and The Brit Awards.

The Oscars (2015)

The Oscars 2015 took place on February 22 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The ceremony was directed by Hamish Hamilton, produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris (actor). The Oscars present awards to the film industry only, covering 24 different categories which were presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. 1. Jess this is a comprehensive review of the Awards Season and sum of the main ceremonies that have taken place this year. You have included most of the key information and some great video inserts as requested. Going forward be sure that you mention all the key awards and any controversy that may surround these.

You have mentioned that the awards are key to the actors but how would it affect the other parts of the Production Cycle?

  2. I think the awards are important to actors/companies etc who did not win an award or even who were not nominated because they will be given a good idea of who they are up against and by having this knowledge of their competition, they can improve. Award ceremonies are also quite important for advertisements (sales and marketing) and especially fashion designers because they can promote their dresses, suits etc on the red carpet and if people see one of their favourite celebrities wearing a particular outfit, they might want to buy one similar, meaning the company that designed it gains profit and recognition.
